Virtual Counselling — Northwest Territories
Morrison Counselling offers secure, compassionate virtual therapy for individuals across the Northwest Territories navigating life's hardest seasons. Rooted in the North. Here for you.
Healing doesn't mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls your life.
Akshay DubeyAbout
I'm a counsellor based in Fort Smith, NWT, working with individuals across the territory and beyond through secure virtual sessions. I understand what it means to live in the North — the resilience it takes, the isolation it can bring, and the strength of the communities that hold us.
My practice is trauma-informed and culturally responsive. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, life transitions, and the weight of things left unspoken.
You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. That's what this space is for.
Every session is grounded in an understanding of how trauma shapes us, without requiring you to relive it to receive support.
I work with people from diverse backgrounds and honour each person's cultural context as central to who they are.
Virtual practice means you don't have to travel to access support. If you're in the NWT, I'm already where you need me to be.
All sessions use encrypted, PIPEDA-compliant platforms. Your privacy is not an afterthought.
Services
Working through persistent worry, overwhelm, and the physical weight that anxiety carries. Building tools that actually fit your life.
Support for low mood, withdrawal, and the days when getting through feels like enough. No pressure to perform recovery.
Trauma-informed support that moves at your pace. You set the terms of what we explore and when.
There is no right way to grieve. This space holds whatever form yours takes, without a timeline attached to it.
Career changes, relationships, identity, relocation. Transitions are disorienting even when they're chosen. Support helps.
Individual work on relationship patterns, communication, boundaries, and what you bring to and need from the people around you.
My Approach
Counselling is not one-size-fits-all. I draw from evidence-based approaches and adapt them to fit the person in front of me, not a checklist.
We talk before you commit to anything. You ask what you need to ask, and we figure out together if this is the right fit.
We take the time to understand your situation, what you're carrying, and what you want from this work. No rush.
Regular sessions at a pace that works for you. We reassess along the way to make sure we're moving in the right direction.
You decide when you've gotten what you came for. This is your process and your timeline.
